Resume and Biography for Jamie Kravitz

Biography

Jamie Kravitz is a usability engineer specializing in information architecture, interaction design, and user research. He has a Master of Science in Human Factors and Ergonomics with a specialization in Human-Computer Interaction from San Jose State University. Currently working as a User Experience Architect for Franklin Templeton Investments, Jamie also has a background in multimedia development and documentary filmmaking.

Recent projects include: information architecture and user research for corporate intranets, public facing websites, and enterprise applications; UI design for scientific software, internet applications, telecommunications, and security applications; development and design of hotel navigation guidance signage for the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society 50th Annual Meeting; usability testing of software, medical devices, and computer hardware.

Academic projects include research on human-centered design for NASA Ames Research Center, performing usability evaluations of both software and hardware products, designing and conducting usability tests, and conducting an ergonomic evaluation of a medical laboratory.

Jamie’s Master’s Thesis, “Of Mice and Pen: Effects of Input Device on Different Age Groups Performing Goal-Oriented Tasks”, compared younger and older adults using a convertible tablet PC to perform realistic computer tasks with both a mouse and a stylus, and was published in the Proceedings of the 2007 Meeting of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society.

Jamie was the lead web and Flash developer for “Dare to Care,” a web-based disability sensitivity training for Long Beach City College, winner of the 2006 Technology Focus Award, sponsored by the Chancellor’s Office and the Foundation for California Community Colleges.

Jamie’s recent documentary film projects, “Hearts Cracked Open” (2004) and “Into the Streets” (2001), have been shown in film festivals internationally and won national awards. He was worked on multimedia projects for the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority, City TV of Santa Monica, the City of West Hollywood, the Big Blue Bus of the City of Santa Monica, UCLA Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, and others.
