User Interface Horoscope

by Jon Hull

Your User Interface Horoscope for this issue:

Aries
You will create a better user interface.  The universe, however, will create a better user.  One who is able to click in ways no one thought possible.

Taurus
Your boss is an idiot.  But try not to tell them, as they will get mad.

Gemini
There is a dialog box in your future.  There is but one choice.  You will find yourself proclaiming: “No, it is not OK!”

Cancer
Your computer will perform an illegal operation.  It will not go to jail, but it will shut down... taking your document with it.

Leo
You are very attractive to the opposite sex, but try not to let it go to your head.  Whatever you do, don’t write about it in a newsletter... especially not the horoscope section!

Virgo
Even though it seems unlikely, your operating system will crash at least once in the next month.  No, seriously!

Libra
You will come up with a great solution!  Now all you need is the problem it goes to.

Scorpio
A paper prototyping session will go awry when your user takes out a piece of paper, draws a mouse on it, and starts moving it around the table.

Sagittarius
In an amazing turn of events, your dog actually will eat your homework.  His plan will be foiled, however, when you print out a new copy.

Capricorn
A full moon will make your client believe they can design.  Furthermore, they will claim that you do not need to user test because they ran it by the programmers, who had “No problems using it”.  You will officially change your birthday so that you can be a Leo.

Aquarius
Pop-up ads will work in your favor for once, as they force your browser to crash just before your boss catches you playing a web game.

Pisces
Judging a spelling bee, you will make a little girl cry when you draw little red dots on her chin as she misspells a word.  Things will only get worse as a man dressed like a giant paper clip starts jumping around on the stage trying to help.  Parents will be upset with you for suggesting that the spelling bee needed a theme.
